A local guide to New Hampshire IDCMP

IDCMP and DWI Counseling on the NH Seacoast

This page is for people in Portsmouth, Dover, Rochester, Somersworth, Exeter, and nearby Seacoast communities who need a practical path through New Hampshire's IDCMP. Because Concord is a longer trip, telehealth is the practical starting option for most Seacoast clients.

The choice is yours

Your DWI charge does not choose your provider

New Hampshire's IDCMP is statewide, so the city connected to an offense does not choose the agency for you. You choose your own approved IDCMP provider, and your court order names the program rather than a specific provider. A Seacoast client may complete IDCMP with a Concord-based provider, just as someone from Concord may choose elsewhere.

Chrysalis offers sessions in person and by telehealth. Staff are licensed in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine, so clients can be seen across state lines by telehealth where appropriate. Chrysalis has been an approved IDCMP and aftercare provider since February 2013 and has provided counseling since 2009.

A useful local starting point

Telehealth keeps the Seacoast connection practical

The Seacoast area includes communities in Rockingham and Strafford counties. From Portsmouth, Dover, Rochester, Somersworth, or Exeter, the Concord office is about a 45–60 minute drive. That is a longer trip for a recurring appointment, especially for people commuting along the coast or balancing work and family schedules, so telehealth is the practical option for most clients.

Remote IDCMP care can include intake follow-up, counseling, case-management contacts, and monthly check-ins when the format is appropriate. The intake team will identify any required in-person visit or scheduled group component so you know what needs to happen at the office and what can happen from home.

Evening class times can suit people working on the coast or commuting between Seacoast communities and another job location. You can ask about the current class schedule and how the 20-hour education requirement fits with the rest of your service plan rather than trying to infer it from your city.

If Maine is part of the picture

  • Chrysalis staff are licensed in Maine as well as New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont, so cross-state telehealth may be possible where appropriate.
  • Maine's equivalent program is called DEEP. Maine asks for an out-of-state program to be reviewed and approved through what New Hampshire calls an Out of State (OOS) Program Review.
  • The client does not repeat the program. The review and reporting details should be confirmed at intake because the requirements depend on the individual matter.
  • Bring any Maine paperwork or DEEP instructions to intake so the team can discuss the correct release, review, and reporting steps.
